Earth Day Clean Up 2023!!!
Thank you for your interest in helping clean up our town's roadways, parks, and public spaces on Saturday, April 22nd from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm! We encourage (but do not require) pre-registration using this form. This helps us be better organized and keeps lines at a minimum on the morning of the cleanup.
Remember, this year we are encouraging everyone to BRING YOUR OWN BAGS (BYOB!) to the cleanup. Used plastic grocery bags are perfect for this purpose - you'll actually be putting them to a good use! A limited supply of plastic bags will also be available at check-in for those who need them -- but please give those "one-time-use" plastic bags another use if you can.
Sign in and pick up disposable gloves and safety apparel at the North Scituate Community House, 546 West Greenville Road in Scituate, beginning at 9:00 am. Bags of trash and recycling should be collected separately, tied up, and brought back to the Community House for processing. The Cleanup Day activities will end at 12:00 pm. See this helpful guide to know what's trash and what's recycling.
If you come across large items that cannot be returned to the Community House for processing (e.g., tires, appliances, etc.), they will be picked up by the Scituate Department of Public Works. A contact phone number will be available at check-in.
Other educational activities are planned at the Community House between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm, including learning how easy it is to compost at home. Learn some tips and tricks from Gentian Garden Club president Cindy Gianfrancesco, and start a compost bin of your own! Everyone who participates in the Earth Day Cleanup will be entered in a raffle to win a home compost bin ($45.00 value). North Scituate Elementary School will also be holding a clothing drive during the event.
